anyway. i need something to surprise my victims. the chompers will always be my kids and all, but the moment my targets lay their eyes on them, it gives them a head start of bolting it.

believe me, i LOVE it when little piggies run, but sometimes? i want to do the element of surprise.

Well I certainly can't risk being an unwashed poro.

[He does, as promised, stop by the stall that sells disgustingly sweet little pastries and things. Too sweet for Silco's taste, but his little hummingbird does seem to run on sugar. And if it makes Jinx happy, he'll do it in a heartbeat.

Though he doesn't see that shock of blue hair, it doesn't mean Jinx isn't around somewhere. So Silco sits at the counter with his little pink box of pastries, drumming his finger against the cracked wood as he waits.]

[he doesn't see her, no, but he will soon hear her as the busy street gathers a collection of gasps and grumbles as his daughter shouts her presence:]

Move it, pal! Gang way, coming through...!! Hey! — Are your ear drums busted? I said move it!

[and in no time flat, jinx bounces over to sit herself right next to her father, and wearing the most biggest grin on her face. it's so wide that she's even showing off the gap between her buck teeth for once. normally, she'd be a little sensitive about smiling this large.]

Here I am!! Did you miss me?

[if anyone were to ask, he'd absolutely deny the soft smile on his scarred face as jinx comes careening into him. he presses a kiss to the top of her head and squeezes her shoulder in greeting.]

I always do. But I brought you a present, to make up for it. [and he slides the box with the pastries over to her on the counter. trying to ignore that hopeful little feeling that she'll like his surprise]

[the kiss to her head makes her cheek heat bit by bit, but jinx shakes her head so he wouldn't notice then focuses to the box he skates over. when she flips open the lid, her eyes sparkle and immediately pops one treat in her mouth, humming sweetly over the delicious taste.]

Mmmm, this is the best!! You always know what to get me.

[silco laughs softly at the way she shoves the entire cream puff in her mouth, all at once. never one for delicate behaviour, his jinx, but it's part of her charm.]

What sort of father would I be if I didn't know how to spoil you, hm? And you've been working so hard all day, you deserve a treat. [there's chocolate cream on her face, and he reaches over to thumb it away] Even if you make a mess of it.

[she giggles, the reserved kind that's only meant for silco's ears and no one else, then smiles wider when he cleans her cheek.]

But what about you, huh? Mr. Busy pants deserves something too, you know.

[chowing down on another cream puff, jinx puckers her lips together in thought while drumming her free hand onto the wooden counter.]

— Lessee.... how about a relax game of pool? Or darts? You've got buddies. [correction: stooges.] A night out with the boys sounds like a good time to me.

[but then she holds up her pointer to indicate one very important factor.]

But no dating. Not unless I inspect them first.

[he could. he could make some of his cronies play a round of pool with him. sevika might actually enjoy herself, a little. she's almost a friend, after all. but all of that just sounds dull. spending the evening with people paid to like him.]

We could play pool, you and I. But only if you let me win a game. [the finger underlining her point makes him chuckle lightly, and he takes her hand to kiss the back of it.] I don't think that is going to be an issue.

I bet you have very strict rules about who can date me, hm? Tell me, what sort of person is allowed to date your dear old dad.

[smiling more after the hand kiss, she scoots a tad bit closer and rests her head against his shoulder. but of course, jinx continues to shovel more treats in her mouth as she elaborates.]

She or he — [no discrimination here.] — has to be hard working like you. No flabby lazy bones. Good looking, but not too good because that would mean people will get tempted to take them away from you. Not that they'll make it out alive if they try.

[jinx pauses for a moment to think some more.] They have to be funny, and know how to fight. And someone who can accept me being first. And most important! ... Who can make you happy.

[there's a pause there, a slightly startled one. not at the head on his shoulder, he's used enough to that, but the or he. the automatic acceptance that he might not be interested in women, and that that wasn't an issue for her.

what a comfort. it's not something he talks about often, mostly because the subject of his love interests doesn't really come up. but it's nice to hear it.

silco wraps his arm around jinx, encouraging the leaning.] He. [It's said quietly, simply to clarify and narrow down her hypothetical search.] That's a bit of a tall order, isn't it? Hard working, moderately good looking, sense of humour, good in a fight.

But of course knowing that you come first. I don't tolerate anyone who doesn't realize that, romantically or not.

[men, then. she can work with that. but now jinx wonders if she should come clean about her preferences too in order to make this even. maybe she should wait until he brings it up in this already conversation or in the near future when they're not so public.

either way, she skates her treat box to the left and settles resting against him — observing jericho working the stove and slicing up sea creatures.]

The funny bit is more for me. I gotta like him too, you know. But... if he's not out there, then that's okay. My love is enough, right?

It is. [it's said emphatically, one arm going around her shoulder to hold her against him. it's been he and jinx against the world for so long, now. from the moment she'd launched herself around his waist, that day out in the rain, he knew he'd burn down the whole damned planet to protect her.]

You're all I need in this world. The rest is confetti. [bright and fun, but brief and unimportant. not like this.

he squeezes her arm, nosing against her hair with a sigh.] And what about you, hmm? Any amorous boys or girls I need to worry about interrogating? Making certain they're good enough for you?

[when it's her turn to have the line of questioning, her lips thin tightly in a way to keep her silence. there is someone, a boy. but a boy she shouldn't like at all, a
boy her father will disapprove of without a second glance — with him being the leader of the firelights and all. she won't lie to silco, but she will keep ekko's name locked away behind her heart.]

There's someone, but. You don't have to worry about him getting in the way.
